Dancers step out into the limelight and embrace the ‘revolution’

Stepping Out also walked away with the NDA Studio Trophy for 2023.

Stepping Out dancers took to the stage once again at the NDA Revolution competition in Vryheid on October 27 and 28.
They were nervous and excited all at the same time.
This was, after all, some of the dancers’ first time on stage.
After two days of performing and over 150 entries, the dancers from Dundee made the academy extremely proud with their determination and passion on stage. They went home with the following results:
11 Diamond medals (90-100%), 26 Gold medals (80-89%) and four Silver medals (70-79%). The Stepping Out dancers also took home numerous special awards and the following placements: 1st – Ziyahne, 2nd – Greatest Showman, Shamarie, Nikki and Caity duet, Jiya – two placings, Novelee, 3rd place: 80s Garage Party, Ziyahne and Emmily duet, Novelee, Ziyahne and Liani.
The following students also received their NDA Association colours in the Intermediate section, which means they had to score an overall 82% and above. Nikki Caldecott: Contemporary colours (3 x Diamonds – average score: 91%), Shamarie Snyman: Jazz colours (3 x Gold – 84.3%), Liani Cilliers: Jazz colours (1 x Diamonds and 2 x Gold – 87.6%), Jiya Sivnarain: Contemporary colours (2 x Diamonds and 1 x Gold – 89%).
“We are extremely proud of all our dancers’ hard work and dedication towards dance as a sport.
“We love seeing you grow every year,” said dance instructor Marina de Beer.
