Buy a poppy and remember those who fell for you

Laurel and Vincent will be handing out poppies this Saturday (November 11) at the Pick n Pay in Hutten Heights and Pioneer Park. Any donations big or small are welcome.

The proceeds from donations for poppies have always been used to support the old soldiers who returned from the battlefield minus arms or legs, blinded or deaf from the bomb blasts, as well as those suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome, PTSD.

When the Mothwa ladies read the poem “In Flanders Field,” they came up with the idea to make red poppies to support the wounded and to remember those who never came back.

Mothwa Laurel and Moth Vincent will be handing out poppies on Saturday morning at the P&P in Hutten Heights and Pioneer Park.

For a donation of R20 or more, for a poppy you can win a 25-cm iced fruit cake. However any donation big or small is welcome.

On Sunday, November 12, the public is invited to join the Remembrance Day parade from the Mouth Shellhole to the old cemetery in town at 10:30am, where you can place your poppy on the cenotaph in memory of loved ones who did not return.
