Amajuba District municipality holds mass prayer for the class of 2023

Mayor Cllr Ndabuko Zulu, Deputy Mayor T. Mthembu, educators and several Department of Education officials joined around 500 excited students for a mass prayer for the class of 2023.

The Amajuba District municipality held a mass prayer for the class of 2023 at Siyamukela High School in Madadeni on October 19.

According to the municipality, the mass prayer aimed to motivate and encourage Amajuba District grade 12 students ahead of their impending final matric exams and to encourage pupils to try their best and outperform the class of 2022, which received an 85 per cent pass rate and finished third in the province.

Mayor uMntwana Ndabuko Zulu encouraged the class to follow in the footsteps of 2022 top achiever, Sinakhokonke Siyaya, whom he jokingly referred to as “The Greatest Of All Time,” adding that she has demonstrated that the sky is the limit for those who strive for academic excellence.

“Sinakhokonke is a shining example of fulfilling the promise of educational independence that our country’s great founders, such as Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, worked so hard for. Witnessing a young intelligent mind, particularly one from our district, earn a scholarship to study medicine at the University of Cape Town captivated me greatly. I can only hope and pray that her story will inspire our class of 2023.”

In closing, the mayor wished the class of 2023 luck on their upcoming exams and expressed confidence that the region will maintain its position as one of the highest performing districts in the province.
