Municipal workers asked to wear black

To mourn the passing of Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi

Municipal Manager Mr SB Mthembu has asked all Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality employees, both male and female, to wear black tomorrow (September 14).

The employees have been requested to wear black clothing as a symbolic gesture to mourn the death of the late Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.

Buthelezi, the founder and long-serving Emiritus President of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), passed away on Saturday (September 9) at the age of 95 years old.

He will be laid to rest this coming Saturday (September 16) in Ulundi.

In the letter issued by the municipal manager, it was asked that female employees should additionally wear a ‘doek’ with their black clothing.

This request to wear black has made national news, with many voicing their opinions – both positive and negative.
