uThukela plans water shutdown

It is likely that there will be water disruptions in certain areas

uThukela District Municipality is planning a water supply shutdown, starting from this evening (September 7).

Water will go off today at 18:00 and be turned on again tomorrow morning at 05:00. The same thing will happen on Friday evening (September 8) until Saturday morning.

According to uThukela, load-shedding by Eskom has negatively affected the efficiency of the raw water pumps at Spioenkop Dam. Bulk water levels have dropped as a result, constituting water supply interruptions.

The municipality has planned to reduce pumping volumes from the Ladysmith purification plant and interrupt the water supply. This will help to build up water levels for an efficient bulk water supply.

The following areas are likely to be negatively affected: Golf Course, Observation Hill, Egerton, Mkhamba Gardens, Limit Hill, Model Kloof, Area J, Saint Chad’s, Steadville and Danskraal Industrial.
