Community against opening of nightclub?

The club will be located in the CBD

Community members are up in arms about a new nightclub that is set to open in town. This after an advert appeared in the Ladysmith Gazette recently. The ad is an ‘application to improve land’ for new purposes.

The advert reads: “Amendment of the Scheme by the Rezoning of land Application of the Remainder of Erf 962 Ladysmith (4A Settlers Drive) from ‘Residential Only Medium Density’ to ‘Core Mixed Use’ to establish a ‘Night Club’ within the Alfred Duma Local Municipality jurisdiction. The property gains access from Settlers Drive.”

Community WhatsApp groups were abuzz after the advert was published in the Gazette. Those against the opening of the club are saying it will cause a ‘nuisance’ in the area and will add to the number of places that already ‘make a noise’ in town.

On the same community groups, there have been complaints that liquor businesses / outlets are the source of excessively loud noise and cars parking in the road where they are not supposed to be.
