Residents furious as Post Office fails to render services

The Newcastle CBD Post Office has been without electricity for over three weeks after it was disconnected due to non-payment, leaving the office unable to provide services to local residents.

According to sources who called The Newcastle Advertiser to inquire, the post office is in darkness with employees sitting around with nothing to do.

Residents took to social media to express their dissatisfaction and confusion because the post office had not communicated any closures.

“I went to our main post office in town on Tuesday.  I found the place in darkness and two female employees behind the counter.  They told me they couldn’t help me because their electricity had been disconnected due to non-payment and they have been without electricity for the past three weeks,” said a local resident, Gloria

Without electricity in the branch, customers cannot renew their motor vehicle licenses, buy postage stamps and post letters, send or receive parcels and have a challenge collecting their social grants.
