Residents complain about illegal dumping

"We already have enough problems in our area, without illegal dumping added to the list"

Residents are complaining about the illegal dumping taking place at the corner of Residency and Diamana roads.

Besides all the other problems in that area, including potholes and leaking water pipes, people have recently been dumping their household refuse as well. Some think the perpetrators are doing this because the rubbish is ‘hidden’ in amongst overgrown grass.

“We are already facing so many challenges when it comes to service delivery! How do people expect us to get helped if they add to the problems by dumping their rubbish in the long grass? That shows a lack of caring for the environment when we instead want the authorities to take our plight seriously. There are garbage collection days, so this is a problem that need not exist; illegal dumping is unnecessary,” said one resident.
