Nofta celebrates Mandela’s birthday with fun, games and a pamper session

In celebration of what would have been Nelson Mandela’s 105th birthday, Newcastle’s elderly were thoroughly pampered, treated to an afternoon of light- hearted entertainment and served a scrumptious meal.

In 2009, the United Nations declared Mandela’s birthday, July 18, ‘International Nelson Mandela Day’, in recognition of the former South African president’s contribution towards peace and freedom.

The Newcastle Organisation for the Aged (Nofta) commemorated the occasion on Saturday, July 15, with a special programme jam-packed with activities to spoil its members.
