Seeing the world through Mthokozisi’s eyes

His talent belies the fact that he has received no formal training and is purely raw talent and untapped potential.

Mthokozisi Mkhonza (24), a self-taught visual artist, is eager to establish himself and earn a living doing what he enjoys.

Mthokozisi has a distinct perspective on the world, which allows his works to effortlessly transport the viewer to dreamlike realms.

He credits his high school teacher, Mrs S. Singh from St. Oswald’s Secondary School for believing in his talents and encouraging him to pursue his art.

He currently sells his work through outdoor exhibitions in town or wherever he can find space.

“I wish I could grow, that I could get an opportunity to really study art at an institution so that I can sharpen my skills and reach heights beyond what anyone currently believes I can reach.”
