Rock of Victory Assembly Church mark Youth Day

With the help of informative speeches given by various speakers from the Department of Social Development, Correctional Services and other stakeholders, the goal was to raise awareness about the value of developing social skills, while encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle.

In commemoration of ‘Youth Month’, the Rock of Victory Assembly Church (based in Dundee and led by Pastor N Hlatshwayo) hosted a tournament for netball and soccer players last Saturday.
Eight teams competed on the soccer field, while four teams took to the netball court.
Teams travelled from Dannhauser and other areas to compete in this tournament. SP Stars won the netball competition after scoring 11 goals against the seven goals of Dundee Lionesses.
“The church is committed to addressing societal issues that affect young people – such as drug abuse, adolescent pregnancies and criminality, to name but a few, while working to improve the lives of children and teenagers,” said Pastor Dumisani Zwane.
He added that the church created the Khwezi Community Development initiative to include all churches in and around Dundee, as well as sports organisations, and provide a free and secure atmosphere for everyone.
“This was the first of many events I have organised, especially in observance of Youth Day,” he explained.
With the help of informative speeches given by various speakers from the Department of Social Development, Correctional Services and other stakeholders, the goal was to raise awareness about the value of developing social skills, while encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle.
“We would like to express our gratitude to the churches, community, sports clubs, stakeholders and most especially Mayor Siyabonga Ndlovu for their support, commitment and kind donations,” concluded Pastor Zwane.
