Man flees in ambulance, crashes into car near Ultra City on the N3

The man did not get very far after he caused a third collision near Ultra City

A man who took off in a Midlands EMS ambulance without consent has been arrested after he collided with a car near the Ultra City on the northbound today (July 3).

This story starts when the man was involved in a crash near Lions River and while paramedics were attending to the scene, he jumped into the ambulance and fled the scene.

It is believed he was carrying an unlicensed firearm.

A call was made to law enforcement officers along the N3 to be on the lookout for the vehicle, which was heading towards Estcourt and stop it if seen.

While driving near the Mooi River Toll Plaza, the man crashed the ambulance into a traffic vehicle belonging to Mpofana Municipality. It’s reported that he also collided with a truck while fleeing.

The man did not get very far after he caused a third collision near Ultra City. He crashed into a car, which rolled three times. Fortunately no one was seriously injured.

The man was swiftly apprehended by law enforcement officers.
