Help prevent a blood shortage crisis

All donors will receive popcorn and a token of appreciation

The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) is currently facing a shortage of blood. With this in mind, a ‘Big Bleed’ will be held on Friday, June 30, at the Ladysmith Blood Donor Clinic, San Marco Centre.

Speaking to the blood bank staff, they say their greatest source of blood is from schoolchildren. However, it’s now school holidays, hence there is a huge decrease in blood donations.

They appeal to the community to ‘step up’ and follow in the footsteps of the youth. “Help us ensure that lives are not lost during the July holidays due to a blood shortage crisis.”
