Residents applaud arrest of two men who terrorised their area

The two - dubbed 'paras' (those who steal in order to sell the goods for drugs) - were taken to the police station for questioning.

The arrest of two young men thought to be behind a string of break-ins / theft of copper pipes in the lower McKenzie and Oldacre Street area has been welcomed by residents who say they have been terrorised by constant theft.
A McKenzie Street resident, who wished not to be named, spotted the men trying to break into his house after leaving his home early last Monday.

“I have experienced six break-ins over the last two months – my copper pipes and appliances have been stolen.

When I saw these two, I gave chase. They ran off, but minutes later, I saw them trying to steal chickens further down the road.”
He called ADT Security and personnel reacted swiftly. Minutes later, the two men had been apprehended in Browning Street.
