Home Meah treated during Youth Day outreach programme

"They say charity begins at home, and there is no better home than Home Meah," says Lethokuhle Ntshangase.

Ntshangase, who is a dental assistant, was part of the Eternal Salvation Ministries in Christ’s June 16 outreach programme at Home Meah – the only registered home for abused and abandoned babies in the Amajuba District, in terms of the Children’s Act.

The church group assisted Home Meah caretakers by cleaning the home and also helped out by doing the washing and cleaning up the outside play areas.

Congregant also helped feed the babies, took care of the infants and even made them delicious boerewors rolls for lunch.

“We finished with prayer session with the caretakers who said how much they have been yearning for a prayer session as their duties mean that they have to work on Sundays,” Nstshangase said.

“I wanted to show an act of random kindness. I truly believe in the phrase, blessed is the hand that gives.  So when I asked myself, ‘what can I do as a young person for June 16 that will benefit not me but someone who is so focused on serving others?’

“And only Home Meah came to mind. The caretakers take so much care for other people’s children as their own, with so much love and passion, and for that, they deserve not just a braai but the whole community to assist in any way possible as much as possible because, as the Zulu saying goes, “Umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu” translates to a person’s existence is through others,” he explained.
