Committee launched to tackle substance abuse
A programme of action will be discussed by members during their next meeting
To address escalating drug / substance abuse in town, the local municipality decided to launch the ‘Local Drug Action Committee’ (LDAC).
Stakeholders from various government and community organisations attended a meeting recently, where representatives to serve on the committee were nominated and elected. Mayor Mduduzi Myeza handed over appointment letters to the committee members.
“The local municipality sees this structure as a step in the right direction, as this committee will wage war against the social ills that plunder our town,” said Myeza.
A programme of action will be discussed by members during their next meeting.
