Driefontein road set for major revamp

MEC Hlomuka made a commitment that a total of R16 million will benefit local businesses

MEC for Transport, Community Safety & Liaison Sipho Hlomuka announced a major revamp of the Driefontein road last weekend.

At the launch, which was held along the road, Hlomuka said the work to be done on the P189 (Driefontein road) will cost R49 million. He said they expect the project to be completed by December.

The contractor was also introduced at the launch.

“We want the community to benefit as well, so youth-owned businesses, women-run businesses, people with disabilities and also veterans are encouraged to come forward.”

Leaders of the community, including Inkosi Nhloso Khumalo and Ward 14 Cllr Mthokozisi Khoza, happily welcomed the development.
