Little wrestling heroes grip and grapple on the mat to walk away with unique medals

Brian competed in the U/6 age division and overpowered his four opponents.

Little wrestling heroes from around KZN battled it out on the mat for one-of-a-kind medals when the new provincial wrestling league got underway in Vryheid.
Called the Orange Grove Super Hero Challenge, it was the medals that really caused the excitement – not only are they big, but each medal also sports the image of a superhero.
Wrestlers from the Newcastle Cougars, Richards Bay, Vryheid and the NN Rhinos of Glencoe competed, with young warriors as young as four years old entering.

The Rhino Club was well prepared, and the team spirit and camaraderie between team members were warning signs for the other clubs; the Rhinos meant business!

Lethu Mthembu, Liam Schonken, Daylon Du Plooy and Terischka Basson led the way with skilful, aggressive wrestling. The rest followed their lead and helped the Rhinos to a dominating performance.
Novice Brian Slabbert was awarded with the ‘wrestler of the day’ trophy. Brian competed in the U/6 age division and overpowered his four opponents.
