Newcastle Lions Club aim to ease the winter blues through annual project

In an effort to make winter a little less harsh for those in need, the Newcastle Lions Club is turning up the heat with its annual Warmer Winter Project.

Lion members have asked residents to imagine facing winter without clothing, blankets, and other items which are often taken for granted.

Many children are forced to walk to school in clothing that offers very little to no protection from the icy-cold elements.

Newcastle residents are encouraged to donate any unwanted winter items to those in need.

Donations can include warm clothing, jerseys, jackets, winter pyjamas, closed shoes, and blankets.

These items can be dropped off in the collection trolleys placed at Pick n Pay Family Pioneer Park, Davida van der Merwe Optomotrist, Pam Golding, and Melos Pub and Grill by May 26.
