Local golfers tee off at annual Drakensberg sponsored Golf Day

Newcastle Golf Club was the place to be this past Saturday, as hoards of local golfers gathered to participate in the annual Drakensberg School-sponsored golf day.

Golfers refused to be intimidated by the cold weather and proceeded to enjoy the day among friends and friendly competitors.

At the end of the competition, players gathered at the clubhouse, where they celebrated the day’s winners.

They were as follows:

  • First place: James Bonthuys and Manie Mostert with 47 points.
  • Second place: Willy Clayton and George Meyer with 46 points.
  • Third place: Jannie Esterhuizen and Deon Pfeil with 45 points.
  • Fourth place: Brandt vs. Berg and Theuns vs. Rooyen with 44 points on average.
  • Fifth place: Carel le Roux and Richard Clayton with 44 points.

Congratulations to all the winners!

Upcoming fixtures will be as follows:

  • Wednesday, May 31: Ocean Basket Sponsored Wednesday Competition (IPS)
  • Saturday, June 3: St Domanics High School Golf Day ( A/ Scramble)
