Protest action in Helpmekaar Road

The union and management are still at loggerheads and the strike continues

Heavily-armed police are keeping an eye on the situation at Dunlop today (May 24), where workers are again engaged in protest action.

The protest has been on and off for three weeks now, with workers belonging to the National Union of Metal Workers of South Africa (NUMSA) still not reaching an agreement with management. 

Helpmekaar Road blocked with rocks.

Protesters were seen burning tyres and blocking Helpmekaar Road with huge rocks.

The strike is still on at the moment and motorists are advised to use alternative routes.
