SANBS to host various mobile blood clinics throughout June

The South African National Blood Services (SANBS) encourages all eligible donors to take some time out of their day to give the gift of life.

Each unit of blood donated contributes to the ability of those who rely on blood donations to spend time with their families.

Therefore, SANBS will host various mobile blood donor clinics throughout the month of June.

They will be as follows:

  • June 1 – Pick n Pay Pioneer Park
  • June 3 – Boss Auto Car Show
  • June 4 – Boxer Super Store and Scott Street Mall
  • June 6 – Madadeni Provincial Hospital and Village Walk
  • June 8 – Eyethu Junction
  • June 9 – Newcastle Local Municipality.
  • June 10 – Theku Plaza
  • June 11 – Boxer Super Store and Amajuba Mall
  • June 13 – NN Training Centre.
  • June 15 – Pick n Pay Pioneer Park
  • June 16 – Eyethu Junction
  • June 18 – Amajuba Mall
  • June 20 – Newcastle Provincial Hospital
  • June 22 – Eyethu Junction
  • June 23 – Mediclinic
  • June 24 – Theku Plaza
  • June 25 – Boxer Super Store and Amajuba Mall
  • June 27 – Village Walk
  • June 29 – Mittal Medical Centre
  • June 30 – Theku Plaza

You can donate blood if:

  • You are between the ages of 16 and 75 years old (for first-time donors)
  • You weigh a minimum of 50 kilograms (a minimum of 55kg for platelet donors
  • You are in good health
  • You lead a low-risk lifestyle
  • You consider your blood safe for transfusion
  • You have had a balanced meal within four hours of donating blood
  • You have not donated blood in the past 56 days (14 days for platelet donors)
  • Your pulse is between 50-100 regular beats per minute.

SANBS staff will also screen you beforehand to determine your haemoglobin levels and blood pressure.
