Police find illegal items at schools

All the students were searched

The Ladysmith SAPS Visible Policing and Social Crime Prevention units conducted surprise searches at two local schools recently.

They recovered items such as cigarettes and drugs.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan confirmed that the cigarettes and drugs were not found on the students, but abandoned in and around the classrooms. Therefore no arrests were made.

Police vow to continue with these searches in the interest of safety, for scholars as well as educators.
