Anonymous ‘angel’ saves baby’s life

The anonymous heroine’s quick response saved the infant’s life

KwaZulu Private Ambulance Services area manager Frikkie Bekker and his team saved an eight-week-old baby’s life on Saturday. The baby was choking. Fortunately, a trained first aider who obtained her level 2 with Frikkie two years ago was close by and rushed to the baby’s aid. The anonymous heroine’s quick response saved the infant’s life before ambulance services arrived. Why the baby was choking is unclear, but milk was vomited up. The baby was taken to hospital for further assessment and care. Frikkie encourages the public to do a basic CPR and choking course, as this could very well save a life one day.
