MEC checks up on incomplete RDP houses

The MEC promised the community that the contractor will move to the Umbulwane project site next week

MEC for Human Settlements Dr Ntuthuko Mahlaba visited Alfred Duma Local Municipality on Tuesday (May 16) to monitor the progress of long-overdue RDP housing projects.

Mahlaba visited two housing projects in the local municipal jurisdiction, namely Umbulwane (Ward 9) and Acaciavale (Ward 20).

He addressed a number of community members who are the beneficiaries of the unfinished houses.

The MEC’s visit comes after Alfred Duma Mayor Zama Sibisi also raised questions regarding the pace at which these houses are being built.

The MEC sought clarity on the exact cause of the delay and also assured the community that the projects will be completed as soon as possible.
