Mayor presents vision to transform Newcastle into a vibrant city

Newcastle Mayor, Cllr. Xolani Dube, recently met with local traditional leaders to discuss plans for the proposed 2023–24 financial year.

The Newcastle Municipality’s Mayor’s Parlour played host to this prestigious meeting.

According to a statement released by the municipality’s communications department, the main objective of the engagement was to afford Amakhosi the opportunity to make inputs and suggestions on the IDP and municipal draft budget.

“The meeting was also aimed at outlining the crucial role traditional leaders ought to play in local governance,” the statement concluded.

The road show was concluded with the mayor’s parlour engaging with the captains of industry (business sector) at the Newcastle Council Chambers.

“The aim of the meeting was for the municipality and businessmen to also have an opportunity to discuss progressive ways to move Newcastle forward towards its 2035 vision of becoming a vibrant city.”
