The community is advised to store and use water sparingly

This morning (May 8), areas such as Hospital Park, Old Golf Course, Observation Hill, the CBD, Steadville area J, St Chad’s, Golf Course, Limit Hill, Modelkloof and Dranskraal Industrial are facing a water shortage due to the electricity outage in Ladysmith.

According to uThukela, the Ladysmith bulk purification plant is not in operation and it is not possible for them to pump or process water.

According to uThukela spokesperson Jabulani Mkhonza, they currently have water at the Golf Course Reservoir at 55%, Observation Hill 15% and High Tower 10% . It will not be possible to provide the community with water as normal if these water stock levels are depleted.
