Regional Hospital does away with files

The new system is set to make patients' lives a lot easier

Ladysmith Regional Hospital has now implemented the eHealth system. eHealth sees patients’ information being entered onto the system, so files are no longer necessary.

Speaking to hospital PR manager Thabo Sithole, he says the hospital is happy to be using this new system, as it has the advantage of reducing patients’ waiting time. The issue of files getting lost will also fall away.

Although the system is new, staff are trained and patients will need to capture their details onto the system before they see a doctor. Sithole says it’s a bit chaotic at the moment, because patients need to get used to the new way the hospital operates.

“Files are a thing of the past now. As soon as a patient comes to the hospital, they need to go to a staff member who will capture their details onto the system,” said Sithole.
