Newcastle community called to aid horror N3 crash survivor

The Newcastle community has come together to raise money for Janine Francis (21) who survived the horrific crash on Easter Monday that killed three members of her family.

21 year old Janine lost her parents, Michelle and Matthew, as well as that of her brother, Ralph, in the N3 accident around Hilton on April 10.

She is currently receiving medical treatment at Grey’s Hospital in Pietermaritzburg after both her legs were amputated in a bid to save her life.

Family spokesperson, Silas Marimuthu stated that the Janine K Trust was established to give much-needed funds to pay for Janine’s rising medical costs as well as for any future medical or living expenses.

“Janine would also require emotional counselling and the purchasing of equipment such as a wheelchair to provide her with a better standard of living once she leaves the hospital. The possibility of fitting prosthetic limbs etc. must also be investigated,” he said.

They are hoping to raise the sum of R1000 000  through various fundraising efforts. These funds will help provide Janine with emotional counselling, purchasing of equipment such as a wheelchair to provide and to provide her with a better standard of living once she leaves the hospital.

“The support from the community since the articles about Janine was posted on social media have been tremendous. We have received messages of support from many Newcastle residents as well as people from Durban, Pretoria and Johannesburg”
