Jabu leaves SAVF Eventide after 22 years of service

After working as a healthcare professional with SAVF Eventide for 22 years, Jabu Khuzwayo (60) just retired.
Jabu, a widowed mother of five children and nine grandchildren, was raised in the Endumeni Farm neighborhood of Dundee. Jabu, who was a devout follower of Christ and had been working as a farm worker in her youth. “I started back in 2001 with no experience in healthcare because I had worked as a farmer in my youth, but over the years I gained the necessary experience with the help of the retired Sister Nosi and Mrs. Burner,” said Jabu.
She continued by saying that she has never been transferred to another department while working at Eventide because of her dedication to caring for the people. while questioned about her favorite aspects of working at Eventide, she cited getting to know the residents on a personal level, caring for them while they were ill, and witnessing their recovery as a result of her commitment to their health.
“I am a firm believer in God, and what has motivated me the most over the years is that I, too, will one day become old and frail and require the care of others,” said Jabu, Karen and the staff pleaded with me to continue working, but I was forced to refuse the offer due to my advanced age and the difficulty of lifting the residents for bathing or changing them given that I am now a gogo as well”, explained Jabu. She also added that she is excited she is to spend time with her family at home, rest, and help raise her grandkids.
“In whatever you do, do with love, do it with a pure heart and good intentions”, these were Jabu’s words in encouraging healthcare workers. She also thanked the Gunther family who introduced her to the Eventide family over the years, she also thanked the entire SAVF Eventide staff members for their love and support over the years.
