Suspect kills neighbour then himself

A 55-year-old man was killed by his neighbour in the Mondlo area on Friday. Police investigations indicate that the victim was shot in the back of the head. After shooting the man, the suspect phoned a friend for help. However, by the time the friend arrived at the house, the alleged killer had already turned the gun on himself. He sustained a gunshot wound to the forehead. The friend found the suspect on a gravel road, still alive. Upon picking up the suspect’s jacket to cover all the blood, the gun slipped out and fell on the ground. The suspect was rushed to CJM Hospital before being transferred to Madadeni Hospital, where he passed away. A 9mm firearm and two empty cartridges were found at the scene. The motive for the murder-suicide is unknown at this stage.
