Cash-in-transit heist on R34

Unfortunately, the robbers managed to get away and evade arrest

A well-known security company’s cash van was hijacked on Monday evening on the R34 close to the Utrecht turn-off. It is said that two vehicles with heavily-armed men fired several shots at the van to bring it to a standstill. Electronic explosives were then used to gain access to the money. A high-speed chase ensued as police pursued the suspects in the direction of Nqutu. Unfortunately, the robbers managed to get away and evade arrest. The heist saw the road closed for several hours while evidence was gathered. No one was injured, but it is believed that an undisclosed amount of money was stolen. The case is under investigation.
