Paki Lions seal cricketing double

The Lions roared back after losing two wickets for naught to beat Molls by 45 runs.

Paki Lions made a remarkable comeback after a disastrous start to clinch the 30-over league title on Saturday.
The Lions roared back after losing two wickets for naught to beat Molls by 45 runs.
Lions won the toss and chose to bat, but made the worse possible start, losing two wickets with no runs on the board.
Batting was then slow, as Mfundo tried to keep an end up while wickets fell around him. In the face of some fast bowling, Mfundo made a brave 37, but it was Jonathan and Zeze who ensured the comeback with scores of 80 (off 60 balls) and 58 (off 37) respectively.
Lions could be quite pleased with their 203/6.
For Molls, Hanro put in a fine performance to capture three wickets for 29 runs. Molls’ Altus (50 runs) and Eugene (39) tried to keep their innings together, but they ran out of overs to end on 158/5, giving Lions a 45-run victory.
Ashfaq took three wickets for 32 runs and Peter 2/23.
This victory means that Paki Lions have done the ‘double’. In last Wednesday’s T20 final, they beat Jihadees on the Duckworth-Lewis system after amassing 166 runs in 20 overs. Jihadees made 110 runs for seven wickets in 18.4 overs before load-shedding intervened.
The end-of-season awards were made after Saturday’s final:
T20 Batsman of the Year – Nathaniel Benjamin; T20 Bowler of the Year – Ashfaq Mahammed; T20 Player of the Year – Nathaniel Benjamin; Saturday 30-Over Batsman of the Year – Altus Annandale; Saturday Bowler of the Year – Ali Khan; Saturday 30-over Player of the Year – Ali Khan; Overall Batsman of the Year – Nathaniel Benjamin (601 runs); Overall Bowler of the Year – Ali Khan (35 wickets); and Cricket Player of the Year: Nathaniel Benjamin.
