Sunny suburban bliss; a thing of the past?

The once-family-oriented has devolved into a sight to behold and a near-fatal trap for the vehicles that travel along Amethys Drive every day:

Overgrown grass, houses built on sewage lines, and pothole-infested roads have tarnished a once-pristine neighborhood’s reputation.

Sunny Ridge residents are outraged as they witness their beloved suburb become a “victim” of a lack of service delivery by local government.

The once-family-oriented has devolved into a sight to behold and a near-fatal trap for the vehicles that travel along Amethys Drive every day.

Driving through the neighborhood, one notices overgrown grass, potholes that stretch across the roads, and half-completed structures, all of which make criminal activity in the area easier to conceal.

Sunny Ridge residents are concerned about their safety because there has been an increase in home invasions and robberies.

These half-built buildings and overgrown fields attract criminals who prey on unsuspecting home owners in the area, and our cries for help have gone unheeded despite our reporting these concerns to the relevant departments,” said one resident who preferred to remain anonymous.

Motorists, according to residents, are burdened with unnecessary high vehicle maintenance costs because their tyres are constantly damaged as a result of Sunny Ridge’s poor road conditions.

Almost every road here is in such a bad state that you can hardly drive on it anymore!  What happened to make this acceptable? We were once known as the cleanest town in KZN and a thriving tourist and business destination, but look at us now! What happened to this town?” she questioned.
