Sniffer dog finds missing two-year-old

Parents and caretakers are yet again cautioned to always keep an eye on children

A two-year-old child went missing in the Bokweni area on Saturday after her siblings went to a tuck shop and the grandmother had to clean the church hall after a service. When the other children returned, they informed the grandmother that the two-year-old had gone missing from the church yard. Warrant Officer Nkosi and sniffer dog ‘Achil’ from Vryheid K9 Search & Rescue, along with Constable FS Zulu of Mahlabathi CSC, were called to the scene. Achil followed the scent and found the child about four kilometres away from the church, where she was sitting under a tree playing with containers. She was half dressed and only had one shoe on. The girl looked tired and dehydrated, and had a couple of bruises on her. She was taken to Ulundi Clinic and later transferred to Nkonjeni Hospital for a checkup.

Parents and caretakers are yet again cautioned to always keep an eye on children. Remember that there is no waiting period to report a person as missing.
