Thando’s road to the Mrs SA crown

Thando wants to use this opportunity to be a voice for change

Noluthando Zwane Madinane (37) from Loskop can now add ‘Mrs South Africa semi-finalist’ to her impressive resume as she joins the class of 2023. Thando received the happy news on February 3 after the National Casting event at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg.

Following the announcement, the semi-finalists took part in a jam-packed two-day conference filled with motivational talks, life coaches, workshops, upskilling sessions, socialising and networking opportunities, and an introduction to the famous Mrs SA sisterhood.

“I feel so humbled and grateful for this opportunity of a lifetime. I am here representing Estcourt. This is the confirmation I needed to answer my calling to share my story and offer a helping hand to the community. My time to serve has come and I am accepting it with open arms,” she says.

Born and raised in Bhekuzulu, KwaLomode, Thando attended Bhekuzulu Primary and Amahlubi Secondary schools in Phangweni. She then pursued her tertiary education at Tshwane University of Technology, Jeppe College and CompTIA, where she obtained an advanced diploma in Computer Engineering, A+ and N+ CompTIA.

She is a wife, daughter and mother of two children, Andiswa and Imani, and currently lives in Johannesburg North, working as an IT technician supporting MultiChoice DSTV.

Thando made an online application to the ‘Mrs SA’ pageant and was accepted.

She was put through her paces during a panel interview with the judges, which resulted in her being selected as a semi-finalist.
Wanting to be a ‘voice for change’, Thando says she entered the pageant for women who cannot speak for themselves.
The next step in her Mrs SA journey is to be part of the prestigious list of finalists. To achieve this, Thando needs your help.

“Part of the requirements to qualify as a finalist is to receive as many votes as possible and also find a sponsor, which is my humble request to the community and local businesses,” she explains.

To help Thando reach the final round, you can vote for her by sending an SMS with the words ‘Thando Zwane Madinane’ to 47587. Each SMS costs R3. Businesses that would like to sponsor Thando may call her on 011 719 4106.
