Load-shedding scheduled in town as an alternative

The work to repair the power station is still in progress...

Alfred Duma Local Municipality has announced that electricity will be rotated, since the Jantha Street power station repairs are still in progress.

Statement as sent:

Please note that all seven (7) panels have been installed at the Jantha Switch-House and the secondary cables feeding out of the sub-station have been connected to the panels.

Currently, the service provider is in the process of carrying out tests on the 132kv panel and further repairs have also been initiated on both the 132kv circuit breakers.

The technical team is trying very hard to commission the 132kv breaker before 19:00 tonight so that the 132kv/11kv transformer at the Jantha Switch-House can be made alive and all power can be restored to normality.

However, should this not materialise, the department will try to back-feed the cables from another source to the panels. This will be done on a rotational basis, like in load-shedding, due to capacity constraints on the Alfred Duma electrical network.

An appeal is made to all customers to treat all installations as being live and to remove all generators that are currently being used to supply their homes as an alternate supply.

Due to capacity constraints, we will be load-shedding certain areas that were affected so that every household has some electricity until our 132kv circuit breaker is properly functional by tomorrow afternoon (February 11).

The municipality wishes to thank all residents for their patience during the prolonged electricity outage in their areas.
