Ladysmith Mayor Zama Sibisi visited the Jantha Street substation this morning (February 6). Areas such as Acaciavale, Hillside, Rose Park, Leonardsville, and industrial customers in the Progress / Main Road area have been without electricity for three days now after the substation caught fire on Saturday.
Mayor Sibisi commented that a team is currently working on the problem and promised that power will be back at the latest by Friday (February 10).
He apologised for the outage that residents are currently experiencing and thanked the team that managed to restore power in parts of town on Saturday.
Municipal officials are currently investigating the cause of the explosion at the substation.
