Angry protesters have closed the R616 Bergville road near Acton Homes since Thursday (January 12).
The protesters have blocked the roadway with rocks and tree branches.
According to officials at the scene, the road is still closed today (January 16) and motorists should avoid the area. Officials have erected a sign stating that the road cannot be used at present.
Residents in the area are demanding water, since their taps have been dry since last year November.

At this stage, it is unclear when the road will be open again.
