War against potholes is a one-sided battle?

Residents are undecided which roads boast the most potholes.

The war on potholes in the town is being lost…
As fast as workers fill in the holes – usually with gravel rather than tar – the ‘craters’ open up again.
Residents say the potholes are not ‘squared off’ before being filled in and, with the rain and many heavy vehicles running in residential areas, the potholes soon ‘grow back’.
Residents are undecided which roads boast the most potholes. Douglas Street, near the corner of Oldacre Street, has been destroyed by coal trucks.
“McKenzie Street, between Tandy and Coronation Street, resembles a World War I trench field,” quipped one motorist. These holes were subsequently fixed after the Courier took photos of the rutted tarmac. However, again, only gravel was used.
Tandy Street, near the Victoria Street corner, is also very ‘holy’, while the Victoria/Handley Street corner is still suffering from repairs done to a water pipe in 2020.
