Lions keep blood sugar in check

Over 100 people took advantage of this free life-saving service

The importance of keeping your blood sugar level in check is essential and could be life-saving.

With this in mind, the Lions Club of Estcourt hosts free diabetes testing for the community and did so again on November 26.

The Lions told shoppers at the Hillside Centre about the free testing and those who were interested were then escorted to Clinic Sister Londeka Radebe, who performed the test.

All it takes is a needle prick to the finger, and then blood is tested for its sugar content. 117 people were tested on Saturday, with one person recording a blood sugar level of over 20, which was concerning.

“It was a very successful day. Thank you to Clinic Sister Londeka Radebe, who was amazing with the testing and recruiting of people. Thank you also to Estcourt Pharmacy and everyone who tested,” said Lions member Patrizia Louw.
