‘Buckle up’ by Halalisani Shoba

Indeed, it is that time of the year, probably the busiest period of the year for many around the globe

“Bambelela siyajika” as we normally say in my native language, can be interpreted as, ‘Hold on tight as we are about to turn’.

Indeed, it is that time of the year, probably the busiest period of the year for many around the globe. People are already ‘vibing’, as we are in the middle of festive season and you can feel it, that Christmas is just around the corner. December will always be special, as many tend to use this period to rest after the lengthy year they had. Pity December doesn’t feel like 31days, as it is, we are 27 days away before we say ‘bye-bye 2022’. What a year it has been for me. I know we all have different testimonies we can share about the year we had thus far. I achieved some of what I’ve prayed and worked hard for, and some that my God thought it was suitable for me. I’m still praying, planning to achieve more, as I believe that greatness is waiting to meet me half way.

It is necessary and expected that we take care and apply lot of wisdom in everything we do during this period of festive season, because there’s still life after December. Of course, we don’t exactly know how tomorrow is shaped for us, but it will be better for tomorrow to find us alive and healthier. Our economy hasn’t been stable for a long period of time now, which makes our lives to be a living hell. Food, fuel, lifestyle; I mean everything is expensive. One can swear that we live in a foreign land, where we are expected to live as slaves in order to survive. As much as I’m in no position to advise people on how to spend their hard earned monies during this festive season but spending wise in this screwed economy is nothing but a must.

Let’s ‘buckle up’ in everything we do. Again in 2022, we laughed, cried, prayed, gained and lost some. We experienced happiness, pain but at least we are still alive and kicking. Life has no manual hence we should appreciate everything and everyone in our lives.

On that note, again. Let us take care and stay safe during this festive season. We ought to avoid unnecessary accidents. Only fools continue to drink and drive, like there’s no excuse for that. Last but not least, lets continue to fight Gender Based Violence. Violent behaviour cannot and should not be tolerated in our homes, communities. Such wild behaviour needs to be reported and be dealt with decisively, always. I’m sending lot of hugs of love, tolerance, healing, kindness towards each other, spirit of forgiveness and Ubuntu, prosperity and lot of success until, until. Happy festive season, leading to Christmas day.
