Local dealership donates R90k towards children’s home

Dennis shied away from the praise and said it’s all about the children…

Auto House Vryheid’s dealer principal, Dennis Jones, is known for his selflessness and hands-on approach in giving back to the community. Recently, Dennis and his team were informed by Isuzu’s head office that they should earmark a charity project to commemorate Mandela Month.
This sparked an idea to donate a borehole to Inkululeko Children’s Home. During load-shedding, the pumps can’t supply the necessary demand for water in the town. Due to this situation, the home is left ‘dry’ while taking care of 21 children ranging from newborn to six years old. “Being without water is difficult enough on its own, but when dealing with children, the challenge becomes almost impossible,” explained Miriam Leveridge from the Home.

Dennis Jones and Stephen van Rooyen (both from Auto House Vryheid) partnered up with Mundus van Niekerk and Nico Kok and planned to install a borehole at the Home. Dennis and Stephen proposed the idea to their head office, who in turn accepted the proposal and donated R90,000 towards the installation. The home was initially identified for a borehole by Nico, who sadly passed away a day before the official handover in this project.
Miriam says the borehole is going to make a huge difference in the children’s lives. They currently have three JoJo tanks, but when there is no water, there is no way to fill up the tanks. The borehole will now automatically fill up the tanks. Miriam and the children express their gratefulness towards Auto House Vryheid, Mundus and Nico. Dennis shied away from the praise and said it’s all about the children…
