Don’t be fooled by job scam

The mastermind behind the scam is posing as a ward councillor

An opportunistic individual is taking advantage of the high rate of unemployment by scamming job-seekers.

Last week, Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality was alerted to a job scam that is using the municipality’s credentials. It is alleged that an individual who calls himself Cllr Khubeka, masquerading as the Ward 3 councillor and Ward 4 candidate, is behind the scam.

“This person is messaging members of the community on Facebook and WhatsApp, saying that people are being hired at Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality. Kindly be informed that the municipality is not aware of this deceiving and false information; it is a scam,” said the municipal communication department.

If you are contacted by this alleged scammer, it is advised that you report it to your nearest police station.

“The public is warned never to respond to this type of mischievous communication. Residents are kindly reminded that the municipality’s recruitment for vacant positions is done through formal advertisements in recognised legal newspapers, the municipal website and internal Human Resource processes,” added the communication department.
