A beacon of light for learners

The rechargeable lights will allow learners to study during times of load-shedding

The Al-Imdaad Foundation, together with the Partners for Possibility School Leadership Programme, distributed rechargeable, portable lights for learners at Amahlubi Secondary School in the Ephangweni area outside Estcourt recently.

The rechargeable lights will help learners to study after-hours, especially during load-shedding. This is especially important for matric pupils at the school, who attend extra classes in the evenings.

Al-Imdaad Foundation team member Nizam Ismail explained that one of the key aims for the intervention was ‘for matric learners to have light to study’.

The lights were received by jubilant learners and Amahlubi principal Mr P Dlamini, who is a participant in the Partners for Possibility School Leadership Programme that links underprivileged schools to local businesses.

The Al-Imdaad Foundation was invited to participate in the intervention through Debbie Roos from Dormehl Property Group, that is a business partner to Amahlubi Secondary School in the programme.

Al-Imdaad remains committed to supporting education in the local community and strives to work with all stakeholders in achieving this goal.
