‘We are all the same’ by Halalisani Shoba

It is never too late to learn something new, and to do things in a different but progressive way.

Unless you are an atheist but we all believe that there’s God somewhere. I for one, believe that God created this space we are currently occupying as human beings. For what reasons? Only He knows but I’m pretty sure He didn’t create it for us to be judgemental toward each other. In everything we do; embracing, loving, and tolerating each other should be something we prioritize each and every day.

November being a Disability rights awareness month in our country. I wish we can educate ourselves and have clear understanding about the importance of this great awareness, but again it is not enough to be informative without any action. Whether you think, you are ‘able’ or not but we all need to get involved. There shouldn’t be any form of classification or separation because we are all the same, just that we differ in abilities.

I know some people, especially those who are not affected by any form of ‘disability’ have no clue about Disability Rights Awareness, some it is the first time they read about such awareness and that alone proves the kind of society we live in. We are ignorant unless or until we are affected. We need to educate ourselves about the importance of differences we have when it comes to abilities. If I am able compared to someone who isn’t able, it doesn’t mean I’m anyhow better, fortunate or blessed but it simply means we have different ways of doing things.

It is never too late to learn something new, and to do things in a different but progressive way. It is always encouraging to see people striving to be part of the solution, instead of being selfish and ignorant. We are all the same, with different abilities.
