DA councillors help resolve water problems

Certain areas of Ladysmith were without water over the weekend

Water was once again an issue in Ladysmith this past weekend, starting on Friday (November 4).

Many residents had dry taps for the duration of the weekend. The affected areas included Acaciavale, Aloe Park, Hillside, Leonardsville and Smartiesville.

The issue was at the Ezakheni Water Treatment Works, where security guards closed the plant due to a dispute with the employer.

Today (November 7), a meeting was held at the Ezakheni Water Treatment Plant. Present at the meeting were Democratic Alliance (DA) councillors Thys Janse van Rensburg, Anand Rajkoor and Mike Suddaby, along with uThukela Municipal Manager Mr MB Mnguni, security guards from Sizowaka Security and the SAPS.

The matter was resolved at the meeting and the community can expect water again, or at least higher water pressure, later tonight in the affected areas.
