Majuba TVET lecturer chosen to judge at World skills competition

Students were given a list of ingredients to select from and with those had to compile an Ala-Carte menu to serve three guests.

Zama Dhlamini, who teaches catering theory and practical at Majuba TVET College, was asked to join the panel of judges as the deputy national cooking expert at the 2022 South Africa World Skills Competition (WSZA).

With five years’ experience behind her, Dhlamini confidently accepted the challenge. The competition was held at the Durban International Convention Centre on June 11.

Students were given a list of ingredients to select from and with those had to compile an Ala-Carte menu to serve three guests.

The cooking task was a four hour session on a daily basis and the final results were based on portioning, presentation, and taste.
