Discrimination to blame for Glencoe’s water crisis?

Charity organisations like the Al-Imdaad Foundation have helped for weeks now, with Umzinaythi District Municipality water tankers unable to service the entire Umzinyathi District.

The old rivalry between Dundee and Glencoe is flaring up again. But this time it is not about business, schools or rugby.
It’s about water!
Glencoe (and Wasbank) residents are up in arms over what they say is flagrant discrimination against their town, after the taps ran dry seven weeks ago. Dundee was also left without water after the pumps at Tayside failed.
These pumps take the water from the Buffalo River to the Biggarsberg Water Treatment Plant and then on to Dundee, Glencoe (via the reservoir next to the prison) and Wasbank (via a pipeline).
Dundee’s water supply was largely restored, while Glencoe and Wasbank have continued to rely largely on volunteers to drive around in their own vehicles, delivering water to homes.
