Women reclaim their destiny

Women from all walks of life are encouraged to be part of the Women Aflame movement

Former Wembezi resident Prophetess Penny Mthethwa made history at the OR Tambo Premier Hotel on October 1 when she launched a women’s movement called Women Aflame.

The air was filled with hope and healing, with many women expectant of restoration in their lives. It was a spring day, with red carpet elegance being the theme.

Women from all over the province gathered in sophistication and glamour to hear what the Lord had to say through His vessel, Prophetess Penny. She explained that this women’s movement was placed in her heart many years ago and to see it birthed has left her emotional and overwhelmed. Mthethwa has been very busy…

Earlier this year, she published a book called ‘My Journey To Destiny’, which led to the programme ‘Restoration Hour with Prophetess Penny’, where she teaches her viewers about real-life challenges and how to overcome them using Bible stories they probably didn’t know existed.

According to her, Women Aflame is a movement that is going to help women everywhere to reclaim their destinies. The first speaker, Zola Chonco (a daughter of Dominion Life Changing Family Church), is a social worker whose expertise is counselling for families and youth – specialising in trauma debriefing and academic counselling.

Chonco spoke about mental health and the mental illnesses women are faced with post Covid-19. She also spoke about ways in which women can be assisted in dealing with anxiety, depression and stress. Many women admitted to feeling like Chonco was talking to them and about them in her presentation. Prophetess Penny then took the floor after powerful worship by the band that was performing on the day.

She explained the movement and how she envisions it to be ‘women who stand together and celebrate each other and find comfort in each other during tough times without judgement or shame’.

The second speaker was also a daughter of Dominion Life Changing Family Church, namely Esther Ngwasheng, who is a qualified radiotrician at South African Airways. As an aircraft radiotrician, she specialises in aircraft communication and navigation systems.

She explained how Prophetess Penny has been a positive influence in her life, who has assisted her in navigating her professional life and making her way into the boardroom of a male-dominated industry. She is currently the first and only female senior manager in operations, and she is responsible for line stations.
